Welcome to my blog, 'The Teacher's Journal'. I am Devasis Chakma, a village teacher currently working at Govt. Borapansury High School.
Born on December 30, 1993, in Borapansury, a small village in Lawngtlai district, Mizoram, India. I completed my primary education in the village and passed the Middle School Leaving Certificate Examination (MSLC) in 2007. I then attended New Angel Public School, earning my HSLC, followed by HSSLC from Government J.L. Higher Secondary School, Aizawl, under the Mizoram Board of School Education.
I pursued higher education at North Eastern Hill University, graduating with a BA in Education in 2016 and an MA in Education in 2018. Additionally, I obtained an MA in Sociology from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), an MA in Political Science from Aligarh Muslim University, and a B.Ed in Social Science from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukerjee College of Education, under Assam University.
I have successfully qualified for several prestigious exams, including UGC NET (June 2019 and December 2019) and NE-SLET (March 2019) in Education, qualifying me for Assistant Professor or Lecturer positions at the college and higher secondary levels.
Despite being qualified to teach at higher levels, I have chosen to remain a high school teacher. Through this blog, I will share personal and professional stories, offering insights into the challenges faced by rural teachers like myself, highlighting the contrasts with our urban counterparts.
